Lately my knee has been painful. Well, it’s always been somewhat painful but it seems a little more than usual. There’s no particular area, just a generalized pain around the implants. At nearly 8 weeks post-op, it feels as though I’ve failed a section of boot-camp and got “recycled” back a month. The pain is very reminiscent of what I was dealing with in December, and has been very achy after a long day. I wonder if I’m finally starting to treat it like a real knee, that is, asserting more physical pressure on it and allowing less reliance on my good knee.
I went back to school this week, which is another big step in an already eventful year. It’s been almost 10 years since I graduated college so getting back into the swing of things has been a challenge. Class is 2 evenings a week after work, which adds to the exertion I’m already subjecting my knee to. And the seats in the classroom suck; there’s no place to put my knee up so needless to say I’m a little stiff after the 2 hour lecture.
Overall I feel like I’m still going in the right direction, or more importantly, not backwards. Once I get in the swing of things, I’m sure I’ll catch my stride (figuratively speaking).
